Tonikawa: Over The Moon For You

Review Time! For Nasa Yuzaki, life wasn’t easy. Due to his eccentric parents naming him after NASA (which they only saw it as “Starry Sky”), everyone made fun of him. He dedicated himself to be a brilliant genius, so everyone would respect the name Nasa! That is, until one winter evening, with a full moon out, he saw a beautiful girl and rushed to talk to her. Unfortunately, an oncoming truck collided with him. The girl, however, saved him, and though he was in intense pain, Nasa told her that he loved her and wanted to date her. She agrees, on the condition he marries her, to which he happily accepts. When he wakes up in the hospital, the girl is nowhere to be found. 2 years later, without hearing a word from her, she suddenly arrives at his apartment, marriage license in hand, ready to make it official! She says her name is Tsukasa, and is ready to be the best wife a guy could ask for! That is, if they can both get past the awkward phase! Tonikawa: Over The Moon For You is a charming, funny and endlessly lovable show about two young newlyweds in a most unusual situation. Nasa is a nice, considerate person, who is very passionate and also tends to monologue his thoughts a little too often, which is the source of a few laughs. Tsukasa herself, however, is the real star, as she is loving, adorable and also surprisingly dedicated, especially to Nasa. She also is a big nerd, which is just so cute when she goes on about her love of film or showing off her amazing gaming skills. There is also a bit of mystery about Tsukasa herself, as there are hints that she is more than just an average, if slightly quirky, young woman. Little wonder that she also got on a number of best girl lists. One of the most charming things about the show, however, is their relationship: both Nasa and Tsukasa very clearly care a lot for each other and it is has ranked highly on my (soon to be finalized) revised list of RCA couples, in spite of them not knowing each other very well beforehand. There is a gaggle of side characters which add their own goofy qualities to the show. Now the question of whether this show will get a second season anytime soon is anyone’s guess, though given it is a fairly recent manga (it started in 2018 and is ongoing), we probably won’t see a second season unless they have enough material. There is an OVA on the way, but for now, we will just have to smile and wonder what these two newlyweds are up to. But one thing we don’t have to wonder about is their love: they are both over the moon for each other!
